Windows version, contains sources, readme.html and executable.
Linux version, contains sources makefile, readme.html and binary. Run ./hand in the unzipped folder
Recquirements
An average 2005 computer will do, eg: pentium 4 with a fx5200 performed at an acceptable framerate (showing at the same time how poorly optimised is my code).
To run it on a windows platform you need glut32.dll here.
For gnu/linux such as debian and ubuntu, you need glutg3 and glutg3-dev packages
This program is a first introduction to 3D in opengl with C++, it allowed me to see differents area in 3D programming like animations, texturing, blending, camera and modeling.
Features
- Lighting :A sun rotate around the room in 40 second, giving nice dynamic luminosity, there is also a turning red spot ball lamp on the small table, which has a narrower angle of effect (40 degree), it moves around the room, and can be controled with u and i , every model use glNormal3f to specifie how the light should refract when it arrives on the surface. Source light are represented by cyan cube
- Models : All the models where made using scaling of cubes, sphere and cylinder no mesh which is an area i would like to explore next time. The lamp use a glass texture with blending to make it transparent.
- Skybox : A sky box suround the room, it was done using a large cube with specific joined textures. A dome is often used in computer graphics for this purpose.
- Fog : implemented by opengl. see commands to activate.
- Blending : implemented by opengl. see commands to activate.
- Texturising : was really enjoyable the more realistic it looks, the better. Putting the commands as a panel in the room is a nicer help implementation than a fixed front page :). see commands to activate.
- Wireframe : implemented by opengl. see commands to activate.
- Animation : like explained in the most diffictul problems encountered, animation are realy time based, they dont use postRedisplay() + loop. To check it do a right clic menu during an animation and clic again few secondes later you will see the object at the new position. During big animations the red spot start turning. If no action is occuring, every 10s a random animation is started.
- View : Top view, side view, pannel view using glLookAt, and a fixed perspecive viewport, activated with ^.
- Picking : By clicking on an object, if an animation is linked to it, it will start, otherwise a nonoAnim arise :). The objects can be picked from any view.
