The First Crepe will be free for all UFM Members. Then, Crepes will cost $1 for UFM Members and $2 for Non-UFM members.

Thank you to all our new members for joining the UFM team and what better way to celebrate the occasion than attending our first social event; The UFM picnic on Thursday 13 August 12-2 pm. It is a time for all our members to familiarize with each other and discuss their expectations for the UFM this semester.
The picnic will be down by the lake in front of the courtyard, where we can all enjoy some much needed sun with the food and drinks that will be provided. For you Petanque addicts, don’t worry we will have the set with us on Thursday. So come out and enjoy the company of your fellow UFM members for what promises to be an unforgettable day

Bonjour everyone!
The UFM will soon be holding an exciting night of Trivia. It is a time to test and expand your knowledge of everything Francophone-related with fellow members!
When? Tuesday 7th April at 5pm
Where? Ubar
UFM Members are all welcome to participate for free although the Ubar capacity will be limited to 40 people. Non members can join in the fun for $2 so bring your friends!
The prize will be a fantastic basket of French goods as well as beer vouchers. Now what could be better?
Trivia always brings out laughter as well as getting those brain juices flowing (especially if it is held at a place serving alcohol like Ubar) so we hope to see many of you there.

Hi Everyone!
First of all, we'd like to thank those who attended our last event for showing up. It was great meeting you guys, and I hope you all had a good time!
Our next event will be the discussion group. We know a lot of you have been looking forward to this as it will be an awesome opportunity for french students to practice their french. If you can already speak french, you can tag along to help out; or if you don't speak any french, just come and chill! The discussion group will be held at the Ubar, on the balcony, this Wednesday at 4 p.m. Nina and Madd will be waiting for you there!

French Film Festival, Movie tickets for "What If"

Hi guys!
This is just a reminder that we need to know who is coming FOR SURE on friday so that we can reserve tickets for you. I think we're only buying 20 tickets (there is a chance we might buy more) so we'll reserve those tickets especially for people who tell us that they are definitely coming to watch the movie.
So please send us a message on facebook or email (ufm.mail@gmail.com) confirming you are coming and don't forget to mention your name. NO "MAYBES"... if we hold a ticket for you and you don't come then that would be inconsiderate to those people who actually want a ticket.
Also, don't forget to bring your Student Card with your UFM sticker on it!

French Film Festival

ZE time of one of our most exciting events has come!
That's right... on Friday 6 March we are heading to the Lindt Cafe for a relaxing afternoon break followed by a evening movie session at Palace Verona to experience the Alliance Francaise French Film Festival 2009!
The details are as follows:
We are meeting in front of Macquarie Centre near the bus stops at 2:45pm to catch a train into the city at 3pm. Look for Sandrine! Alternatively, you can simply join us in the city at Martin Place Station or at the Martin Place Lindt Cafe around 4pm. We'll leave Lindt Cafe around 5:30pm and catch a bus to the cinema to watch the 7pm session of "What If" (titled "Notre univers impitoyable" in French).Ticket prices are $14 for non members and $12 for UFM members. It really looks like we are getting unlucky with our crepes :-(.
Due to a high number of complaints it will not be held on Friday, but no worries, its on next Thursday, that will be the last week of uni and that would be a great opportunity to chillax!
Keep on waiting, and the crepes will be even better !

What about cooking crêpes ? We are sure all of you have been dreaming on doing that.
There it is, the UFM makes it possible. We will be holding a crêpe cooking session on campus where all members will be able to demonstrate their cooking skills and eat their own crêpes. This is a good occasion to relax, enjoy, and appreciate some nice french food.
The main ingredients will be provided, the only thing you will have to do is heat up the pan and start the delicious process.
Please do not forget your membership card :-) et tous à vos poêles !!

Movie Outing: "Bienvenue chez les ch'tis" @ the Dendy + French Café

Bonjour Everyone,
We hope everyone is enjoying their holidays! This coming Friday night we are going to see the movie ‘Bienvenue chez les ch'tis’ at the Dendy Cinema in Circular Quay. We also thought it would be a good idea to head to the little French café ‘La Renaissance’ in the Rocks beforehand –and if you are feeling brave enough you can order in French.

-Date: This Friday
-Time: Meet at SIBT (E3A) bus stop on campus, bus leaves @ 2:29pm.
Alternatively, you can meet us at Wynyard Station bus stop (York st) @ 3:10pm. (Or join us a any later time of course)
-Cost: $10.50 for the movie ticket (you will need your student i.d) + whatever you would like from the café
From Wynyard we will walk down to the French café in the Rocks –speaking in French is not mandatory but feel free ;)

Relay for Life

OK, this one is a bit special. The UFM is putting up a team for the Relay for Life organized by Macquarie and the Cancer Council. This is a fund raising event to improve our community and support the fight against cancer.
We are going to participate in many many fun activities during the afternoon (Saturday) and overnight (do not worry, you will be able to sleep too!). Many people will be present, there are already 27 teams. Come and have fun with your UFM fellows!
So, if you have survived cancer, or you are close to somebody who has, or you want to support this fight and your community, or you just want to have fun, please join!
